On 23 May 2014 in the morning a group of 19 German and Danish students, together with a large group of students from Thailand, Korea and Japan, who also currently study at Peking University’s School of International Studies, set out for the Yanjing Brewery and Shilinxia Scenic Area.
The first stop on this excursion was Beijing’s famous Yanjing Brewery, which is located in the north-east of Beijing, in the Shunyi District. A guided tour through Asia’s biggest beer brewing and bottling facilities was provided, giving students an insight of all steps of the beer brewing process. The tour ended in the brewery’s very own Yanjing Bar, where the students and teachers relaxed for a while and were offered a free cup of Yanjing beer.
Before noon the two tour busses left for the Pinggu district, taking lunch at a local restaurant, before leaving for Shilinxia.
In the afternoon students and teachers spent about two hours at the Shilinxia Scenic Area. This remote scenic area covers about 12 square kilometers, with mountains that resemble a “stone forrest”, divided by a small gorge. Some students took to the top of the highest mountain, while others relaxed next to a small river, enjoying the cool and fresh air.
The excursion was finished in the late afternoon by returning to Peking University.
