Welcome to the ECLC

Teaching

A main focus of the European Chinese Language and Culture Programme at Peking University is to provide students from our European partner institutions with intense Chinese language classes, seminars and lectures, that are fully and seamlessly integrated with their study programmes. Courses are designed and quality controlled by us and our partners.

Exchange

The ECLC office also provides a platform for academic exchange. Guest professors and visiting scholars from Peking Unversity are regularly invited to the European partner institutions to conduct lectures and engage in research. The ECLC also provides support for visiting scholars and students from the partner institutions.

Experience

The ECLC office organises accommodation, language partner exchanges, and extracurricular activities, e.g. excursions as well as seasonal activities, often organised together with PKU’s School of International Studies. Outside of the classroom students may fully immerse in a Chinese living surrounding and gain a deeper understanding of Chinese society.

Start of Summer Term 2026

On March 2nd 2026 the summer term 2026 at ECLC will begin. We welcome all new Bachelor students from Aarhus University, Tübingen University and Würzburg University, who have joined this summer term’s program. As always, classes will take place from March until July, with a short May holiday break in-between.

End of Winter Term 2025/26

The winter/autumn term 2025/26 at the ECLC has ended with an official ceremony. We wish our alumni all the best for the rest of their studies. Some will return to their home countries, while others stay on for an additional study term in China.

Start of Winter Term 2025/26

On September 3rd 2025 the winter term 2025/26 at the ECLC has begun. We welcome all new students from Oslo and Würzburg, who will study at PKU during this term.

End of Summer Term 2025

On July 19th 2025 after a week of final exams the ECLC summer term 2025 at PKU has officially ended. We hope to welcome our students from Aarhus University, Tübingen of Tübingen and University of Würzburg again in Beijing.
