Back in Beijing

The winter term 2023/24 marks the first term after the beginning of the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic in 2019/20 that a group of students from Aarhus and Würzburg is studying at the ECLC again. Students have arrived at the end of February and regular classes have started in March. All operations of the ECLC at PKU are back to normal.

Update of Eclc Book Series

The ECLC uses its own teaching materials, which are constantly updated and revised by its staff in cooperation with the European partner universites. Most recently the teaching materials for the classes Applied Commercial Chinese (实用商务汉语) and Applied Chinese Grammar (实用汉语语法 ) have been updated, typeset and received new covers. The teaching material for Applied Colloquial Chinese 实用汉语口语 has received a rather big update two years ago. Since then some smaller mistakes have been corrected. All teaching materials now are printed in the same format and have received new book covers.

Eclc and the Pandemic

Due to the worldwide outbreak of SARS-Cov-2 in early 2020 the European partner universities have not been able to send their students to Peking University since the summer/spring term 2020. Instead the ECLC office has arranged for online classes, which are taught by the staff in Beijing to students in Germany, Denmark and Norway. While online exercises and classes cannot fully make up for the study experience in China, students may thereby graduate in time and with a good command of Chinese.

Eclc Students Receive Sis Scholarships

This summer semester’s competition for the SIS scholarships was held on 8 June 2017. A group of Danish and German students who study at the ECLC programme participated in a Chinese language competition, of whom six Danish and five German students were awarded a scholarship.

First Sis Scholarships for Eclc Students

On 30 June 2016 a first batch of Peking University School of International Studies Scholarships for ECLC students were granted to six students who stayed at Peking University during the 2016 summer semester. The scholarships, worth RMB 17,500 in total, were awareded to three Danish and three German undergraduate students, who participated in a Chinese language competition. Altogether eleven students competed for the SIS Scholarships.

Updated Information Teachers Staff

The site has been updated with new information on teachers and staff working at the ECLC, including profiles of the ECLC’s core staff and teachers. The ECLC-bureau is staffed with two people, with the Programme Director staying in Beijing throughout the year, and the Managing Director being dispatched by Würzburg and Wien during the summer and winter term.
