On a sunny Friday in late spring 2018, Danish and German students from the ECLC gathered in the district around one of Beijing’s many ancient landmarks: the Drum Tower. At 13:30, the bells of the Drum Tower heralded a relaxing afternoon for the students who are in the seventh week of studying Chinese language at Peking University.
In June 2017 students from Denmark and Germany went on a two-day excursion to Confucius’ hometown Qufu in Shandong province. Below you will find three accounts from students who took part in the excursion as well as five Chinese essays on the excursion.
Last day before the holidys. Everyone was very excited – except me. I was just happy not to lay in bed but instead attending class for the first time that week.
During summer semester 2015, students of the course Lüyou yu Dili 旅游与地理 were asked to create short presentations about Nanluo Guxiang 南锣鼓巷. This short film was created by four students of the Julius-Maximilians University Würzburg, Germany. It provides insights into the daily life in the Hutongs of Beijing and should also give you an impression of the Chinese language level you can reach, by the mid of the fourth semester.
On 23 May 2014 in the morning a group of 19 German and Danish students, together with a large group of students from Thailand, Korea and Japan, who also currently study at Peking University’s School of International Studies, set out for the Yanjing Brewery and Shilinxia Scenic Area.
In October 11 students from Vienna and Würzburg visited the Baway Education school in Beijing. Baway Education is a vocational school, situated in the Haidian District of Beijing, where students are taught practical skills. Students from ECLC, as well as students currently studying at Baway got together to talk about learning and living in China and the West.
The section Students’ Life has been updated with more information on excursions and field trips organized by the ECLC-bureau. A rich-cultural programme, composed of excursions and field trips, that all students who stay at ECLC may participate in, is organized each semester, including destinations such as Datong, Chengde, Xi’an, and the Great Wall.
